The name Caprice means a lot to Caprice Capital Founder, Rich Thomson. Caprice is the model of his first car, 1974 Chevy Caprice Classic Convertible. Rich was left this car by his grandfather, Richard Thomson, whom he was named after. His grandfather bought the car new back in ’74. Rich’s earliest memories were riding with grandpa, top down, to get donuts in the morning when he was a young kid. Rich has always loved the car and still drives it to this day.

Rich’s car has been through a lot over the years, including 3+ engines, new ragtops, paint, interior and a lot of adventure. At one point, the Caprice was even towed and sold in an auction without Rich’s knowledge. After finding the buyer, Rich spent two years calling and waiting for the moment the buyer would be willing to sell the Caprice back. Eventually, Rich ended up being able to buy his own car back.

The Caprice is clearly more than a car to Rich. The car represents a lifetime of memories for Rich, from visits to his grandparents as a child, to driving around high school and college friends, and to now, most importantly, spending time with family. Most recently, Rich drives his wife and three kids to practices, soccer games, the club pool or the beach on the weekends.
